Goldie the Ginkgo Leaf

Meet Goldie the Ginkgo Leaf, the star of the Campus Store's Ginkgo Collection.

Goldie is a leaf from one of the ginkgo trees at Asbury Theological Seminary. Her birthday is September 23, which, as it happens, was also the first day of fall in 1923, the year the Seminary was founded. 

These two beautiful ginkgo trees were planted outside the Morrison Administration building in the early 1950s after board member T. Delos Crary brought them back from a missionary trip. Each fall, their leaves turn a vivid gold and drop almost all at once, analogous to seminary graduates being “sent out” around the globe. Today, when people gather under their branches, they are reminded to spread the gospel throughout the whole world.
